Brief description of the official publications collection held by the organisation

Post- 1922 UK parliamentary material is located on the 2nd floor, Main Library. It is  reference use only and has the shelfmark LL/Par. The pre-1922 UK parliamentary material is located on the 5th floor  and with the same shelfmark LL/Par (and for reference use only). Little of the collection is listed in the online catalogue and it may be necessary to locate individual items by using various indexes shelved with the collection on the 2nd Floor.

Non-Parliamentary publications produced by government departments, have been acquired on a selective basis since 1967. Those dated from 1967 to 1986, are located on the 2nd floor, Main Library. Arrangement is by government department. This material is not listed in the online catalogue, but there is a card catalogue. From 1986 to date this category of material is shelved in the relevant classified sequence in the Main Library and is listed in the online catalogue.
Scottish Parliament material  is  held in the  Law and Europa Library, which  is a designated European Documentation Centre.
