Policy coverageIs the policy retrospective? No. You should deposit copies of your the relevant material published from the start of the 2008/2009 academic session. You do not need to deposit the full text of any earlier publications. However, if you want to deposit earlier publications we are very happy to accept these. I've already deposited publications in the Glasgow ePrints Service? Is Enlighten a new service? Do I need to deposit again? The Glasgow ePrints Service is part of Enlighten. If you have already made your publications available in the ePrints Service you do not need to re-deposit them. Publishers and repositoriesDo publishers allow deposit in repositories? Most publishers permit deposit in repositories so long as certain conditions are adhered to. The most common conditions relate to the version of the article that can be used, and embargo periods during which articles may not be made available. Repository staff will check each publication deposited and will ensure that publisher conditions are met. Where no policy is publicly available repository staff will contact publishers on your behalf. Where deposit is not permitted only the bibliographic details of your publication will be made available. For further information on publisher policies see the SHERPA RoMEO database of publisher policies. FormatWhat format do I need to provide? Either Word or PDF. Word files will be converted to PDF before being made publicly available. The illustrations associated with my article are in a separate file It is possible to upload more than one file. Alternatively, it may be possible to include them at the end of a document. My own version of the article does not have the same page numbers as the published version All articles are provided with a front cover sheet which includes the citation for the published version of your paper. In addition, the record in Enlighten for your publication has full bibliographic details along with a link to the version on the publishers site. If you wish you can amend your own copy so that the official page numbers are indicated. Citing articles in repositoriesWhat if people want to cite the version of my article they find in the repository? Evidence indicates that people would normally site the ‘official’ version of your paper using the citation details of the publisher version. Links with other repositoriesI already make/am required to make my publication available in another repository (e.g. UK PubMed Central or arXiv) We can link to the version of your paper available in another repository – just send the link to deposit@lib.gla.ac.uk.
