GLASGOW UNIVERSITY LIBRARY

ARCHway

ARCHway is a two year project, funded by the Research Support Libraries Programme and managed by the J.B.Morrell Library at the University of York. The project brings together 18 university libraries with archaeology collections as partners in a project which will investigate the feasibility of a national collection management policy for archaeology journals and related materials. In addition to the 18 universities who are partners in the project, there are a number of other universities and organisations who have expressed interest in the project and may become involved more fully at a later stage. The project aims to evaluate whether it is possible to enhance access to archaeology research materials by attempting to develop:
  • A national distributed collection of archaeology journals and related materials and a union list
  • A national collection management policy for archaeology journals and related materials;
  • Co-operative library access arrangements
  • Consortium access to full text electronic journals
  • A web-based union list of serials
  • Tables of content, SDI and document delivery services with effective coverage of archaeology.
